Pupcation 2022

With Spring Break 2022 starting and summer right around the corner (hopefully!), we decided now is the perfect time for our list of the best Pupcation Destinations. As you would assume, this list is 100% made up.

San Diego, California: We agree with The Points Guy that California is a great destination for hoomans and pups. San Diego’s Dog Beach, which occupies the northern end of Ocean Beach, was the first official leash-free beach to open in the U.S. Go catch some waves with your pup. Don’t worry if your doggo doesn’t dig getting wet, though. Balboa Park, has several dog parks. For active dogs and their human companion, there’s Cowles Mountain. Somewhere I would love to visit is Petco Park (San Diego Padres’ stadium). It features a backyard-inspired section called the Barkyard that welcomes dogs and their guardians.

St. Pete and Clearwater, Florida: Who doesn’t want to go to Florida for any vacation? We 100% think this is a great spot for all pups to visit, so put it on your bucket list. Not all beaches in Florida are dog-friendly, Fort De Soto Park Paw Playground is a fun exception that has a fenced-in area where dogs of all sizes can roam free and splash as they please. This wonderful community has a historical fort and museum, nature trails, fishing spots, and waterfront camping. It is truly for anypup that loves being outdoors and near the water.

Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin: As Midwesterners, we would be amiss to not include one of the most perfect destinations for any aged hooman or dog. Doesn’t the “Waterpark Capital of the World” just sound like loads of fun? BringFido.com suggests staying at Baker’s Sunset Bay Resort while splashing in the huge indoor pool with two waterslides, a whirlpool and a dry sauna, or playing volleyball on the beach on the shores of Lake Delton. The hotel also has an outdoor pool, kayaks that guests and their dogs can use for free, a walking path you can explore with Fido, and nightly bonfires. his midwestern city on the Wisconsin River is well-known for its theme parks and entertainment centers, but also offers plenty of entertainment for four-legged visitors. There are also dog-friendly cruises and tours on the Dells Boat Tours and Dells Army Ducks.

San Juan Islands, Washington: Many of the destination sites we researched recommended these notorious US islands. Here is what iheartdogs.com had to say: “These islands have long been rated one of the top tourist destinations for people and it should be for dogs too. Leashed dogs have miles of trails to take their owners hiking, while several off-leash dog parks and beaches allow them some freedom. Doggy water fountains, dog friendly dining, a wellness center and over 50 dog-friendly lodging choices are just some of the reasons the islands are a dog haven. Small dogs are allowed into the Whale Museum, and many of the shops are dog-friendly and have water bowls outside for your thirsty hound.”
